Hawaii is a treat for the eyes, soul, and tummy. It is a paradise for foodies with a sweet tooth because the desserts we offer here are stupendous and healthy. Yes, Hawaiian desserts are healthy and this statement is paradoxical but true. We make them with fresh fruits, organically sourced ingredients, and centuries-old traditional recipes.
Here’s a list of mouth-watering desserts that you have to try when you are in Hawaii. Have them after a finger-licking Hawaiian dinner or have them for breakfast and blow away your mind every single time.

Mochi
Mochi, the delicious Japanese rice dessert is much loved in Hawaii. We eat it in different ways, but mostly in a sweet treat. Modern day Hawaiian chefs creatively infuse new flavors to create butter mochi, peanut-butter, azuki beans, chocolate, fresh strawberry mochi, and the best mix – poi mochi. Do not leave the islands without trying Mochi – it is enjoyed by both locals and visistors. You can also pack a bag full of these for family and friends at home. Oh, and there’s mochi ice cream too!
Malasadas
Malasadas came to Hawaii from Portugal. They are fried donuts without holes and covered in a thick layer of sugar. Malasadas are a favorite dessert staple of everyone who visits Hawaii. This dessert has also resulted in several fusions. The most popular Malasadas you have to eat when you are here are the stuffed Malasadas. There are heavenly options like caramel, coconut, coffee, watermelon, and much more. The plain malasadas are usually the most preferred ones. Often bakeries also add cinnamon for an extra sweet kick.
Shave Ice
Shave ice is an iconic Hawaiian dessert enjoyed throughout the year. In Hawaii, we keep it simple with blocks of ice shaved into soft pieces and topped with delicious syrups. We take it to another level with ice cream and condensed milk toppings (to name a few). We are crazy about food, and we do not mind delicious options, join us on our food journey. Grab a rainbow-colored scoop for yourself after dinner or just after a long walk on the beach. This dessert tastes awesome on a hot day in Hawaii. No matter how many scoops you have eaten around the globe, you have to eat shave ice here to understand what we mean.
Cannabis Infused Desserts
In Hawaii, if you have a medical 329 cannabis card, you can enjoy infused desserts legally. With edibles becoming legal, there are more delicious options to choose from. Aloha Green Apothecary has THC Infused Manoa Honey, and tropical flavored drinks to take your quest for Hawaiian desserts to a “higher” level. If you want to try infusing a dessert yourself, Aloha Green provides infused olive and vegetable oil.
One brilliant traditional dessert you must try in Hawaii is the cannabis-infused pumpkin pie. It is delicious, safe, and a must-try. To make your own infused pumpkin pie you can use the Aloha Green THC Infused Vegetable Oil. Here’s the recipe.
Coco Puffs
Coco puffs are a decadent combination of chocolate pudding and puffed pastry. The best ones get stuffed with chocolate, vanilla and coconut frosting. This is our favorite Hawaiian treat. Ok, that’s a biased thought coming from a hungry stomach. Coco puffs are delicious – frosting or no frosting, and they are a “must try” in Hawaii. You will love them more if you like your desserts cold and creamy and you will find them in almost every bakery on the islands. Head to the ones with long lines to take a bite of the legendary taste.
Bonus Dessert – Haupia
Yes, we wanted to talk about 5 desserts, but when we are talking about desserts, the more the merrier, right? Haupia is a traditional Hawaiian dessert that is made with coconut milk, sugar, and thickner. You will sometimes find it in the shape of a pie with a crust, or a plain slice. The flavor is the same everywhere, though – coconut custard +fresh cream. Dig into one for some mesmerizing island tastes that burst in your mouth.
You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy dessert and that’s kind of the same thing. – Anonymous. Doesn’t this quote sum up this writeup perfectly? Book your tickets and head to Hawaii right now because some amazing desserts are waiting for you. And if you are already there, you know what to do!
